Jay is a Christian conservative who was born in Johnson City. He graduated from high school in Middle Tennessee. In 2006, he moved back to East Tennessee and now lives in Carter County with his wife, Stephanie. He is an Iraq War veteran, having served with the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee Army National Guard as a Cavalry Scout. He holds a Bachelor of Science from East Tennessee State University and 2 Associates Degrees from Northeast State Technical Community College. While at ETSU, he served as vice-president of the ETSU Marksmanship Club. He made national news by standing up to the Administration’s infringement on free speech, forcing them to allow an “empty holster” protest supporting concealed carry on campus. Jay finished his degree at ETSU while working full time as a Die Shop Machinist at Snap-On Tools.
For the past 10 years, Jay has worked in manufacturing as a machinist and engineer, currently at Hutchinson Sealing Systems.
Jay is an advocate for Liberty and the Constitution. Jay has taken a stand against abortion at “40 Days for Life” events in Bristol, TN. Jay traveled to Richmond, VA with tens of thousands of other patriots to stand with Virginians in opposition to the tyrannical proposals of Democrat lawmakers. Most recently, Jay went to Nashville to lobby for Constitutional Carry with the Tennessee Firearms Association.
Jay and his wife, Stephanie, are foster parents. They have been fostering for a year and a half and currently have a 14 month old girl who is the 12th child to come through their home.
